I’ve been talking to some attendees about the future of Raleigh Beer and Blog. I have a volunteer that wants to help me organize these events, so I’m grateful for that. We’ve decided that we’ll be doing once a month for now: the first Thursday of every month. We’ll also be looking around to different places in the area so that we can have meetings that are convenient to everyone. Time is 7-8pm to give everyone more time to get there after work.
Due to some traveling that members will be doing during the winter, we’ll play it by ear for hosting meetings. Stay tuned to the hashtag #RDUBeerBlog for updates.
During our meeting last night, I talked with attendees about the schedule. We’ve decided that every other week will work better for now. Also, 6:30 is a more convenient time than 6:00 due to after-work traffic.
From now on, we’ll meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month from 6:30-8pm, and alternating locations between Brier Creek and Downtown Raleigh. If you have any suggestions, please comment on this post or feel free to message me @Stacey_Alex.
Because a good chunk of our members–including me–will be traveling during the next few weeks, we’ll be picking back up in October. Hope to see you then!
Well the first meeting went smoothly. There were about 6 attendees, although I fear there may have been more who couldn’t find us at the Flying Saucer. I’ve decided (on a recommendation by Karl Sakas) to remedy this potential problem by bringing an indicator. From now on, look for the orange balloon.
It was nice to see everyone tonight, I’m looking forward to next week. Next Thursday’s meeting will be at Wild Wing Cafe in Brier Creek, 6-8pm. This may become a more permanent meeting site, since it’s more of a central location for the greater Raleigh area.
I was also asked about a Raleigh Beer and Blog hashtag. We now have one: #RDUbeerblog.
So I’ve made my first executive decision for this chapter. Our meeting day and time will be Thursdays from 6-8pm. I’m hoping this will give everyone time to get over to the meeting sites after work. Where are we meeting? Our first event (September 2) we’ll be at the Flying Saucer on the corner of Morgan and Harrington in downtown Raleigh. Suggestions for the following weeks are welcome. Hello Raleigh and surrounding area bloggers! We are the Raleigh Beer and Blog chapter. We’re so new, we haven’t even met up for our first event yet. The idea is that once a week we’ll get together at a specified location and talk about blogging over beer (or beverage of your choice–mine will be beer). You don’t have to be super great at blogging to come. This is a place to meet and learn from each other to make our blogs better.
